Breakfast ideas for when cereal doesn’t cut it

Despite being taught the importance of breakfast from a young age, as many as one in five adults in the UK don’t eat it everyday. Reasons for skipping it include people being too busy, not being hungry at that time and wanting to lose weight.

However, it is a meal we all need to eat. After our overnight fast, breakfast provides our body and brain with the fuel it needs to function for the day. As well as providing us with energy, it balances our blood sugar levels, provides us with important nutrients such as calcium, iron, fibre and B vitamins and makes us less likely to turn to the high sugar and fatty snacks later on in the morning.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be time consuming, expensive or boring and should be something you look forward to in the morning. It is the little changes to our daily routines that can have the most prominent and lasting effects on our health and wellbeing and starting your day with a delicious breakfast is a great place to begin.

Try and set yourself the challenge of having breakfast everyday this week and see what difference it makes for you.

Below are seven of our favourite quick, healthy and nutritious breakfasts to inspire you this week.
